Had an incredible time the last few weeks touring with Leica Australia - showcasing the incredible Leica S system.
I fundamentally believe that the tools in this industry need to afford you the flexibility to shoot with as few compromises as possible. Knowing my S is at home on the side of glacier as well as in the studio means I'm shooting more - and enjoying the possibilities of what I can do.
“The new Leica Summicron-S 100mm f/2 is the fastest medium format lens of any camera system, and so liberating being able to shoot wide open without the usual failings of 35mm lenses”
The new Leica Summicron-S 100mm f/2 is the fastest medium format lens of any camera system, and so liberating being able to shoot wide open without the usual failings of 35mm lenses. Whilst many lenses appear optically sound at first - now that consumers and clients alike are asking for larger prints and 4k content - the Leica glass certainly stands above the rest.
It was interesting to see the differences in the market knowledge between states - most obvious at front was how Western Australia had more of a professional user vs the retirees of NSW and Victoria.
I think the problem Leica may have is that not enough professionals have access to a loaner system - something that should hopefully change in the 2015.
Thanks to Leica Australia, Michaels, PRA imaging and FotoReisel for hosting the workshops.
